Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia H.E. Carl Hartzellʹs meeting with the MA and PhD students of the TSU Institute for European Studies

The Institute for European Studies of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi state University is pleased to host a meeting of the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia H.E. Carl Hartzell   with the MA and PhD students of the English-taught interdisciplinary programmes in European Studies. The traditional meeting of the Institute’s students with Ambassador is hosted since 2010.


Topic of the meeting: The Birth and Growth of the EU’s Foreign and Security Policy

H.E. Carl Hartzell was a reasearcher at Stockholm Institute for East European Economics in 1992; He also worked for the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden bewteen 1996-1999; In 2005-2013 was a member of the EU Policy Unit under High Representative Javier Solana, a Minister Counsellor - Deputy Representative to the EU Political and Security Comittee in Swedish Permanent Representative to EU, a member of Cabinet of High Representative/Vice Pressident Catherine Ashton; H.E. Carl Hartzell was a distinguished visiting professor of the University of Wyoming, USA; Between 2013-2018 years worked as Senior Adviser to the Deputy Secretary General of the EU External Action Service and Senior Foreign Policy Adviser to the President of the European council – Donald Tusk; And since 2018 he is an Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia.

 

The Institute for European Studies of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi state University provides up to 15 places for those who are willing to attend the meeting with H.E. Carl Hartzell.
