The European Union awarded the TSU Institute for European Studies the grant under Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Project action titled as “Establishing Interdisciplinary Bachelor’s Programme in European Studies at Tbilisi State University”/ EUStBA 2020-2022
Summary
The seventh and the fourth workshops were organized by the Institute for European Studies of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University from 28 September to 1 October, 2022 within the frames of the EU funded Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Project “Establishing Interdisciplinary Bachelor’s Programme in European Studies at Tbilisi State University” in the central library building of TSU. Among the participants of the four-day workshop were administrative and academic personnel of IES, representatives of the TSU quality assurance faculty units as well as the central office, IES MA and PhD students and other stakeholders.
In the beginning of the workshop the director of the Institute for European Studies of TSU -
Nino Lapiashvili welcomed the participants and overviewed the topics to be discussed during the workshops. The first part of the workshops was dedicated to the techniques of working with scientific databases led by the chief specialist of the TSU Research Center
Mrs. Tamar Gogua. Mrs. Gogua discussed the largest and most respected worldwide-used bibliometric databases such as Scopus and Web of Science (WoS), Elsevier ScienceDirect (SD), Reference Manager “Mendeley”, Research funding foundations as well as Grant writing process.
The final part of the workshops was led by the head of TSU Library electronic resources -
Mr. Teimuraz Kancheli, during which he talked about the specifics of working with the TSU databases and repositories as well as discussed the best experiences in this regard and shared the practical advices.
The project coordinator together with the academic and administrative staff as well as the stakeholders involved in the project discussed the importance of developing the skills to work with the largest scientific databases and noted that TSU Institute for European Studies is planning various events in the future to promote this direction.
During the final part of the workshops the participants discussed the need for specific trainings that will aim to develope skills needed to increase the employability of researchers and students and reviewed the draft of the IES Action Plan in relation to the mission of TSU.
