Call for Applications on English-taught Interdisciplinary Doctoral Programme in European Studies for Autumn semester of the academic year of 2023-2024

Institute for European Studies of LEPL - Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University is pleased to announce call for applications for the admission (Order N173/01-01; 28/07/2023 and amendments to the order N184/01-01; 9/08/2023) on interdisciplinary and interfaculty English-taught Doctoral Programme in European Studies in Autumn semester of the academic year of 2023-2024, established within the framework of EU funded Project “Establishing Interdisciplinary PhD Programme in European Studies at Tbilisi State University" (ENPI/2012/306-124).
Entry Requirements:
1. Research Proposal (2500-3000 words) giving the a) title of PhD Dissertation, b) research objectives, c) research question/questions, d) hypothesis, e) research methodology and f) overview of the literature to be applied.
The research area of thesis must be related to the European Union.
2. Exam in English Language on C1 level (candidates will be exempted from the English language test if the relevant English language certificates are provided (IELTS/TOEFL/FCE) or if applicant holds a Masterʹs diploma where itʹs indicated that the language of instruction was English);
3. Interview with Jury.
Only the candidates who hold the Masterʹs diploma from the following faculties are eligible for the programme: Law, Social and Political Sciences, Economics and Business, Humanities.
Only Short listed candidates will be contacted.
Graduates of foreign Universities are allowed to submit their applications in full compliance with Georgian Legislation.
Dates of Enrollment:
a) Application Submission – 1-30 August;
b) Exam in English Language on C1 Level – 6 September;
c) Announcement of the results – 9 September;
d) Appellation of the exam results – 11 September;
e) Announcement of Appellation results – 12 September;
f) Interview with Jury – 18-19 September;
g) Announcement of the interview results - 20 September
h) Conclusion of learning agreement - 20-22 September;
I) Sending the list of the PhD candidates to the TSU Department of Academic Process Management - 25 September.
List of the Documents to be submitted:
a) Letter to TSU Rector;
b) Research Proposal (2500-3000 words maximum, in English) giving the

c) Written approval from supervisor;
d) Copy of Passport (in case of international candidate passport shall be translated into Georgian and approved by Notary);
e) Copy of Masterʹs Diploma and Diploma Supplement approved by Notary;
f) Recognition document issued by the National Center of Education Quality Enhancement of Georgia (in case of possessing foreign Masterʹs Diploma);
g) Copy of the document certifying the knowledge of English Language approved by Notary (in case of existence);
h) Letter of Motivation (in English);
i) CV (in English);
j) 2 printed copies of Applicants Photo (3X4) and CD version;
k) Copy of military service certificate (in case of existence).
There are 10 vacant study places for Autumn semester of the Academic year of 2023-2024.
Tuition fee per semester for Georgian students is GEL 1125, for Foreign students - GEL 2250.
Applicants can submit an online application and the hard copies of the documents shall be submitted at the TSU Institute for European Studies on the date provided by the IES administration.
